Wilson Glove of the Month Beginnings

When crafting the perfect ball glove, Wilson's guiding question is "Do the players love it?". Michael Markovich, Global Commercial Director for Wilson Baseball and Softball, ensures this by visiting industry-leading sporting goods stores, such as Better Baseball, regularly. These store visits began in the early 2000s, as Michael gathered valuable insights from 20-25 dealers nationwide. He now returns yearly to a select few dealers who significantly impact the design of Wilson's A2K and A2000 gloves.

A top dealer asked Wilson if they could design an exclusive, eye-catching ball glove that couldn't be found anywhere else. On his way back to Chicago, Michael had an epiphany. Instead of catering to just one store, why not create a unique "Wilson Glove of the Month" for their expanding network of dealers? This limited-time offering would not only satisfy the original request but also extend the exclusivity to their best glove accounts. With this innovative concept, Wilson could make a real splash in the market. 

In 2013, the moment had finally come and Wilson GOTM had arrived. However, it was merely an idea in the making, not yet a cornerstone at Wilson.

"That's how it started. As a trial. As a, let's see if it works,” Michael said. "Wilson Glove of the Month became something a lot more impactful than I think we ever thought it would."
